Privacy Policy
Effective October 22, 2026
Lifeboard is built so your family's information stays with your family. There's no Lifeboard account, we don't run servers that store your data, and we never sell or share anything about you. This page explains, in plain language, what the Lifeboard apps and this website do with information.
The short version
- Your calendars, reminders, photos and home devices stay in Apple's apps and your own iCloud. Lifeboard reads them on your device. They never come to us.
- There's no Lifeboard account, and no ads, tracking or analytics in the app.
- Voice control runs on the iPad itself. Nothing you say is recorded or sent anywhere.
- If you join our launch list, we use your email only to tell you about Lifeboard.
What the app uses, and why
Your iPad or iPhone asks your permission before Lifeboard can use any of these, and you can turn each one off at any time in Settings.
- Calendar and Reminders: to show your family's events, chores and lists, and to save the ones you add in Lifeboard. Lifeboard adds a short note to lists you link to it, so you can tell they're in use.
- Photos: to show your photos in the slideshow and photo frame.
- Home: to show and control your lights, locks, scenes and cameras.
- Location: to show the weather where you live and estimate drive times. You can type in a town instead.
- Microphone and Speech Recognition: only if you turn on voice control. Speech is recognized on the device.
- Apple Music: to play your music and playlists.
Where your information is stored
Things you create in Lifeboard itself, like your kids' names and points, rewards, meal plans and settings, are stored on your device. If you use Lifeboard on more than one device, they sync through your own private iCloud account, which we can't see. We don't keep a copy anywhere.
When the app goes online
Lifeboard has no servers of its own. A few features connect to other services, which receive only what that feature needs:
- Weather: the location you've chosen is sent to Open-Meteo for the forecast, and to NOAA (the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) for tide times if you show them.
- Drive times and place search: event addresses and your location are sent to Apple Maps.
- Music and podcasts: Apple Music, Apple's podcast directory, and a show's own servers when you play one of its episodes.
- Purchases: the free trial and the unlock go through Apple's App Store. Lifeboard only learns whether they're active. We never see your payment details or who you are.
- Recipes: recipe searches go to DuckDuckGo, and recipe websites you open see an ordinary visit.
Each of these services has its own privacy policy.
What we don't do
No ads, no analytics or tracking code, no selling or sharing your information, and no profiles. If you've chosen in your device settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports, which we use only to fix bugs.
Kids
Lifeboard is made for families, and kids use it at home. It doesn't collect personal information from children. What you enter about your kids, like a first name and an emoji, stays on your devices and in your iCloud.
This website
- Launch list: if you enter your email, it's stored by Webflow, our website host, and used only to tell you about Lifeboard's launch and major news. We never share it. To be removed, email hello@lifeboard.io.
- Hosting: like any web host, Webflow receives standard technical information when you visit, such as your IP address and browser type. One font on the page loads from Google Fonts.
- No trackers: we don't use advertising cookies or trackers. If we add simple, privacy-friendly visitor counts later, we'll say so here.
Your choices
You can change Lifeboard's permissions in Settings at any time. Deleting the app removes what it stored on that device, and you can remove its iCloud data from your iCloud storage settings. For anything else, just ask.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
